Alpenglow

This painting resulted from a holiday in Switzerland. This view was from the balcony of my room. I could have sat there for hours, because as the sun came up, the effect on the mountainsides was electric, and forever changing.

The picture is painted in acrylic on a box canvas.

I always paint the sides of the canvas in keeping with the front picture, so that it may be hung as it is, or can be framed if the purchaser wishes, without fear of uncovered canvas being revealed.

size 30x30cm, Price £60 (P&P extra)

The Art Deco Lovers

My daughter and her partner love art deco, and this seemed a fitting way to paint their portrait.

It is painted in watercolour and gouache with pen.  Size 56x38cm approx (within the mount). I have decided not to sell it, but it is useful to show what can be done not only in pursuit of painting a portrait, but also matching the finished picture to the interests of the subjects.

  £85 including P&P

Catnap

I love all animals (spiders excepted), particularly cats. They have the supreme ability to relax. I also have a penchant for purple, so it seemed an appropriate course of action to paint a purple pussycat!

This watercolour was sold at its first exhibition.

Glorious Galloway

This picture could equally be called 'Glorious Day', but it was painted in response to a wonderful day here at home in Galloway, hence the title given.

It was painted in watercolour, with pen and  sized 29 x 29 cm (within mount) and  sold at its first exhibiting.

Tranquillity

I love tranquil, misty evenings. A perfect ending to the day.

This scene is from my imagination, my dream world, if you like, which is why I have described it as abstract.

The picture is painted in acrylic on a box canvas.

I always paint the sides of the canvas in keeping with the front picture, so that it may be hung as it is, or can be framed if the purchaser wishes, without fear of uncovered canvas being revealed.

It measures 30x30cm, and is priced at £60 (P&P extra)

Corsock Church

When I first moved to the Region, over 20 years ago, I lived in Corsock, and this was my local church. It holds many fond memories for me, and I love to visit and paint it.

This picture is painted in watercolour, with some permanent penwork to add detail.

It is mounted and framed, measuring 50x50cm, and costs £65.00  (P&P extra)

El Patio

El Patio shows the central patio in a hotel I was in in Spain. I sat and sketched there most afternoons while everyone else was enjoying their siesta time.

The painting is in water colour and measures 66 x 59cm in its frame.

The picture costs £70.00 (P&P extra)

I do not think it could easily be shipped as a framed picture, but it could be posted as a mounted picture.

Hillside Cottage

I think of this style of painting as semi-abstract, rather than abstract, because, while obviously not representational, the subject is easily open to interpretation.

There are many little white cottages on hillsides throughout Scotland, and I think they are one of its most endearing features. I can only imagine what an isolated life people experience, who live in these cottages.

This picture is painted in acrylic, with permanent pen detailing, on a 20x20cm box canvas.

I always paint the sides of the canvas in keeping with the front picture, so that it may be hung as it is, or can be framed if the purchaser wishes, without fear of uncovered canvas being revealed.

It costs £30.00 ( P&P extra)

La Playa

La Playa shows an old clinker-built boat on a beach in Spain. It had been converted to a flower bed, and was an oasis of colour on a neutral sandy beach.

The painting is in water colour and measures 66 x 59cm in its frame.
The picture costs £70.00 (P&P extra)

I do not think it could easily be shipped as a framed picture, but it could be posted as a mounted picture.

Purple Panache

I have enjoyed purple and all its variations - from pale lilac to full-blown Royal purple - since I was a very young child and I first discovered it. It is not merely a 'favourite' colour, but a whole feeling and experience for me, and features largely in my life, not just in my painting.

This picture goes some way towards expressing my feelings towards it.

The picture was painted in acrylic on a box canvas 30x30cm, and was sold to a customer from America.

Scotland the Wild

Another semi-abstract painted in watercolour, with permanent pen detailing.

For me, it shows many of the features of Scotland which make it the 'wild' place that I love - the rugged mountains, the babbling burns, and the diverse birdlife. Scotland is a naturalists' paradise!

It is mounted and framed, measuring 43x43cm, price £75.00 (P&P extra)

Ode to Joy

Ode to Joy typifies my reaction to the beauty of the hills and mountains around me, the splendour of the surises and sunsets that we experience here in Dumfries and Galloway, and the verdant plantlife. I have used shades of my favourite purple and its complementary yellow to enhance it. I always feel joyful when I look at this picture.

The scene is painted in acrylic on a box canvas measuring 30x30cm, and is priced at £60.00 (P&P extra)
